About ReptileWise

ReptileWise is a reptile care encyclopedia and equipment database. We publish structured species data, care guides, equipment buyer's guides, and interactive calculators — built for keepers who want their husbandry based on current standards rather than pet-store folklore.

Our mission

Captive reptile welfare is held back by outdated advice. Pet stores still sell enclosures that are too small and recommend heating gear that burns animals. Our mission is to replace that with current, sourced husbandry — modern enclosure standards, the Ferguson Zone framework for UVB, and peer-reviewed herpetology where it exists.

How we work

• Problems first, products second. Roughly 80% of what we publish solves a keeper's problem; no more than 20% recommends products. We do not publish "Top 10 Best" lists or sponsored reviews.
• Health content has guardrails. We describe signs, symptoms, and when to see a vet. We never tell you how to treat a sick animal.
• Show the source. When we state a temperature range or an enclosure minimum, we cite the authority behind it so you can verify it.
• Build the tool. Where a calculator beats a static chart, we build the calculator.

How we fund the site
